How do you reach out to a child who has experienced the death of someone they love?

Campers have many opportunities to express their feelings and thoughts, as well as honor and celebrate their loved one. Experiences at camp help build a lifelong foundation for healthy mourning of the losses that inevitably come in life. Loss affects us all, but with special care, children especially can manage loss and move forward with healthy, happy lives.

Stepping Stones of Hope offers a unique opportunity for the grieving adults in a child’s life to attend a program in conjunction with the kid’s camp. The model and curriculum mirrors the tools and activities in the kid’s program with the ultimate goal of building family cohesion and strong communication skills. While camp for grown-ups is not mandatory for adults whose children are participating, Stepping Stones of Hope philosophically and fundamentally believes the best possible support is provided for both children and adults simultaneously.

Teenagers may attend any of our family camps with their parents and siblings; however, Stepping Stones of Hope offers a dedicated camp for teens called REACH. The other family camps held throughout the year which teens may also attend, are Camp Paz, Camp Samantha, and One Day at Camp.
