Checkout Childsplay – Mesa Watch Video

ON STAGE & TECH CLASSES

At Childsplay, we have space for students both on and behind the stage. Performers work with actors straight off the Childsplay stage and techies work with industry professionals to create and implement the tech from the groud up. Our 3-week production classes rehearse for two weeks on our campus and then have one solid week of rehearsals on the stage at the Tempe Center for the Arts.

Times:  9:30 AM – 3:30 PM

Tuition Starts at: $215 PER WEEK for Multi Week Classes (Early Bird Pricing ends at March 1st at 11:59 PM)

 

Extended Care:

Morning Exended Care: 8:00-9:20 AM ($25 a week)

Afternoon Extended Care: 3:40-6:00 PM ($35 a week)

Morning & Afternoon Care: ($50 a week)

 

THEME CLASSES FOR AGES 4-6 CLASSES:

Drama develops a child’s creative thinking, cooperation, and literacy skills. In each class the perfect stories serve as a launching pad for dramatic adventures. Participants explore them through dramatic play, narrative pantomime, and story drama while building interpersonal and persentational skills. Each class culminates to an informal sharing for loved ons on the last day of class. These classes are a perfect entrance point for a student who is ready to play, laugh, learn and explore through drama.

 

Times: 9AM – 12 PM or 1 PM – 4 PM

Tuition starts at: $126 (Earlybird discount ends March 1st at 11:59 PM)

 

Extended Care is not available for our half day (3 hour) classes.

 

THEMES FOR 6-9 CLASSES:

These classes introduce students to basic acting skills while exploring an engaging theme from literature or pop-culture. Books, films, or tv shows establish the framework for students to develop their own ideas. Participants do not need to be familiar with the source material to enjoy a course. Each class accommodates students from a variety of experience and skill levels and the week culminates with an informal sharing of material devised by students during the week.

THEME CLASSES AGES 8-12

This class introduces students to fundamental acting skills while exploring an engaging theme from literature or pop-culture. Body, voice, and imagination are engaged in a fast-paced curriculum of drama activities including improvisation, story drama, and character creation. Participants do not need to be familiar with the source material to enjoy a course. Each class accommodates students from a variety of experience and skill levels and the week culminates with an informal sharing of material devised by students during the week.

SUMMER THEATRE INTENSIVES

 

Theatre intensives offer a wide range of opportunities for teen and pre-teen theatre artists (ages 10+). Each theatre intensive course focuses on specific performance skills helping young theatre artists refine their acting techniques. These programs are great for an emerging theatre student ready to delve into focused theatre skill-building. Varying skill levels and ages may participate in Theatre Intensives, although some previous experience is recommended.

 

Times: 9:30 AM – 3:30 PM

MARATHON CLASSES

In a Marathon class, participants polish performance skills while learning a short play or musical in a week! Directed by professional theatre artists, each script contains familiar songs from musicals or pop culture. After a week of intensive training, participants share a workshop performance for family and friends.

 

Note: Half of the marathon classes are musicals where there are elements of singing and dancing. The other half of the classes are plays where there is only acting (no singing or dancing)
