Established in 2010, Little Big Minds was founded to be a leader in early childhood Spanish immersion preschool education. As staff members, we will work together to provide an excellent experience for every family who enters one of our preschools. You will find that much attention has been paid to the many details that create a safe and nurturing environment for preschoolers to play and learn.
Little Big Minds provides a full immersion program. The entire academic day is conducted in Spanish. This will allow students to develop early childhood bilingualism which is the development of two languages within the first five years of life (Garcia, 1986). The immersion program will set up a bilingual environment where students are exposed naturally to the Spanish languages through social and academic interaction. This bilingual experience will provide students the opportunity to understand and apply two languages that may lead to the development of more advanced cognitive development than monolingual students (Bialystock, 1999).
We employ a balanced curriculum with a focus on child-led investigations. We teach children to look for good questions, not just good answers. Through the process of discovery, children are able to leverage their natural curiosity to explore the world around them.
By engaging students in a variety of cross-functional learning activities, we are able to harness this critical phase of childhood brain development while laying the foundation for robust cognitive gains.
Through immersion, your child will develop a strong academic foundation while simultaneously developing bilingual skills, self-confidence, and cultural awareness.
Little Big Minds Uptown is tucked in a neighborhood adjacent to Granada Park, on the spectacular Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox campus at 19th St and Maryland. This campus opened in 2017 and, thanks to an amazing @LBMUptown community, we have quickly expanded to 9 classrooms of growing little BiG minds. Less than a mile from Madison Heights Elementary School and its excelling Dual Immersion program, this location offers a beautiful setting, top quality facilities and a clear dual language academic continuum.
